A microchip is an electromagnetic coil in a capsule the size of a grain of rice.

Pets can get lost no matter how responsible an owner you are. Doors can be accidentally left open, houses can be burgled, cats and dogs may get lost in the neighborhood if frightened by loud noises. Collars and tags are an ideal first line of identity, but these also can very easily be lost.

Microchipping is a quick, simple and painless one-off injection placing a tiny microchip in the scruff of the neck. If your pet should get lost, the unique microchip number can be read by a simple portable scanner and help reunite you and your pet.

All pets traveling overseas will require a microchip for pet identification. Our standard microchip is the 16-digit internationally approved Iso chip.

Here at Cayman Animal Hospital we have our own database and we highly recommend registration with a company such as ‘Pet Trac’ which is based in the States. www.pettrac.com
